National Craft Month 2024 Begins Today

What a great day and time to come back to blogging!

Today is the first day of National Craft Month!

I recently joined a great group of ladies who get together every Friday for the several months of the year.  They take a break during the summer.  It is so nice to get together and craft with like minded friends!

Each week there is a theme and we all do our thing at home, bring in a couple of samples and all the supplies for each person to make our card.  We walk out with 8 new cards each week that we made. It's so fun to see what everyone will come up.

Today, the theme is Wheels.

My card was very simple but elegant (in my opinion).

It was an image I had purchase from Clip Art Heaven Etsy Shop.  Set it up on Microsoft Word and printed it on 90 lb white cardstock.  I did one image on the 8 x 11 white cardstock on the top left 1/4.  I cut the cardstock in 1/2 down the middle and the right half became the Card Base.  I cut the the left piece in half so it gave me two sections for an A2 card.  One had he image and the other was plain white.  Out of the plain white, I cut my frame out.  I also did the same thing to the image piece but I made sure to save all the pieces of the image background.  I also saved all the plain white background pieces for another card some day.  No waste!

I taped the frame with the image onto the card base with Mint tape and began putting the pieces of the image in the holes like a puzzle.  I was very careful to not get any glue onto the taped frame as I needed to remove it after.

This is how I have it taped the frame down onto the card base  so I could use it as a guide as I glued the pieces back into the holes.

This is what it looks like all done and the frame removed.

I removed the taped frame off the card base.  Glued both frame pieces together just to give the top frame a little more stability.

I added strips of foam on the back of the top piece and  placed it back down into the card base, making sure it matched up with the pieces glued down.

On one sample card, I used sequins and the other I did not.  On both, I used a glitter pen to the middle of each flower to give it a bit of sparkle.

Not a difficult card at all!

I will add a post with all the cards we make tonight that had wheels.

Happy National Craft Month!

 Thanks for stopping by!
