Saying Good-bye

A lady I know is retiring in a few weeks.  She is someone who has helped our office to be so much more than we were.  She is someone who has so much knowledge in her field and has gladly shared it with us.
I made her this card for the entire office to sign.  I did not take a photo of the inside but there are 6 layers inside...enough room for 2 people to write what they want on each sheet.   Thursday we will take a photo of the entire office and add that to one of the layers.

The Flower Stamp, button and paper are from Stampin' Up.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession. The fold on this card is called a Double Dutch Fold.  I made this card very long..5 1/2 x 7...as I needed enough room for everyone to write. If you click on it to enlarge it, you can see that the flower heads sparkle.

My new camera just arrived tonight and I cannot wait to play with it!  My other camera had a big spot on the lens that we were not able to get out.  I had to be so careful when I took photos because of that spot, I was only able to use the left side of the picture to avoid it.

Good night all...I am off to bed!

Flowery Happy Birthday

Last night I was speaking to a friend online and she mentioned her birthday was in a few days.  I quickly ran into my craft room and made this card.  The flowers along the bottom are from Stampin Up but the swirls are from a stamp set that I do not know the name of.  The Flower & leaves is actually a cardstock sticker from Stampin Up.  This was a very quick card but at least I am able to get it off in the mail today to her and hopefully have it in time for her birthday!

PMS Scrapbook Sketch

Recently I went to a PMS Party Crop which meant any of the following....
Pizza, Margaritas & Scrapbooking
Pajamas, Music & Stamps
Prizes, Make & Takes, Service Project

What a BLAST!!!  (Thanks Lisa!)
It began at 9am and went until everyone was too tired..9pm or later.

We were all given a Scrapbook Layout Sketch to make using the supplies we happen to have brought with us.  I have not scrapbooked for over 2 years and was not prepared to scrapbook anything that day.  I had planned to make birthday cards so I brought everything to do with birthdays but I thought I would give it a go....even without pictures to put on the page.  At 7:00pm all the scrapbook layouts were assigned a number and we all got to vote which one we liked the best.
I WON!!!
Here is the page I created from the sketch...

(sorry on the crooked scan!!)

I happen to have a layered butterfly punch so I put a few on it with popped up wings.  The flower design was paper I had so I cut them out and made them 3-D as well.   It really got me in the scrapbook fever...perhaps I will actually get a few pages done this year!

Birthday Fairy

Due to tax season and family visiting, I have not been able to work on any papercrafting at all.  Family has now gone home and paperwork is now at the Accountants office..thank goodness!  Now...no more excuses...back to work!

Since I have not shared or have anything new...I will share an old card I made.  I made it for a girlfriend and she loved the card.

Here is a close up of the fairy.

Valentines Cards 2013

These first two cards are for our Grandchildren.  Both cards both free digitals that I downloaded.   The first one is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I love this one!  Perfect for the grandchildren who are a little bit older.  I used my printer for the inside verse "Right from the start...You stole our hearts!!  Happy Valentines Day!!!"

This next image was perfect for the younger Grandchildren.  It was a free digital image from
  Bugaboo Stamps
The inside states "Happy Valentine's Day to Ewe".  Both the image and verse is a set.

This card has a free digital image from Sassy Studio Designs and for my husband.  I do not make him very many cards....I know...I am bad!  I make them for so many others, I decided he needed a special one from me.

Now that Valentines is done...can you believe I already have Christmas cards on the brain?

*lol*

Mojo Monday 278 & 279

Trying to catch up with posting....so with this post I will upload two cards...Mojo Monday 278 and 279.

The first one is #278....a choice of round or square.

I am not crazy over round cards so I always go for the square.  Maybe someday I will go out of my comfort zone and do a round...maybe....but not today!  I chose to flip the sketch upside down.

Next is Mojo Monday 279!

I left the sketch exactly as is.  I flipped it around but I liked this way the best.

There was a new one posted today but I have not had a chance to make a card for it yet.

I do have more to upload....so you may see another card or two today!

thank you for stopping..

Mojo Monday 277

I have a few Mojo Monday cards to upload.  From this sketch.....flipped....

....I created this.....

Good thing about sketches...you can flip them upside down....right side up.....to the right...to the left.....
there's no right or wrong!

thanks for stopping..

Mojo Monday 276

SECOND POST TODAY

I am trying to get caught up on my post...so I am posting a second one today.

I wanted to make another Birthday card using this sketch but I had a difficult time with this one. I kept flipping it over and over until I settled on "upside down" which is really not upside.  Any which way works great!
Here is my version...

Can you believe this was another stamp without ink?  I took care of that...got it all messed up now! lol

thank you for stopping

Mojo Monday 275

Time to post my cards to follow along with Mojo Monday.

and here is my version...

I am very disappointed.  I ran out of Stamping Up Crystal Effects so I used something similar that I bought at the store awhile ago.  I am at the tale end of it and I am disappointed at how yellow it turned after it dried.
Needless to say....I will not be using up the end of that bottle on anything...it is sitting in the trash.

Have a wonderful day!

Bright Birthday!

I like this card because it has such nice bright colors!  Perfect for a Birthday card.  It was easy to do and a great way to use up scraps.    The Birthday stamp came from Fiskars  Birthday Cheer set.  The candle stamp was from Spellbinders Shapeabilities which included all the stamps as well.  It fit perfectly over the "I".  I used pop-ups to pop it up higher than the Birthday word.

I love making the birthday cards...something my box of cards was sadly lacking!

Birthday Glitter

I came across a couple of dies that I had not used before so I put them to work...along with some ink and glitter!  What good is a birthday card without all that sparkling glitter!

Birthday Chalkboard Card

Here is a card I made recently using the Chalkboard Method.  I was amazed at how easy it was!
It starts out with stamping with versamark on black cardstock and sprinkle white embossing over the top....tap off extra and heat it with the heat gun.
Next you will make the "chalk dust" on your chalkboard.  Using a papertowel...tap it onto a white inkpad and rub the papertowel on the black cardstock until you have the desired effect.  Be careful to not hit your words as they may rub off.
 It is that easy!

Give this easy method a try...you will be pleasantly surprised!

Have a great day!

Happy New Year! Mojo Monday #274

Well, here it is...2013.  What happened to 2012?
I do know that 2012 in most ways, was the best year I have had in a long time (health-wise).  So... my New Years Resolution for 2013 is to continue working on being healthy and have another good year!
Another resolution is follow Mojo Monday blog and participate in the sketch challenges for the entire year.  That will give me an additional 52 cards created on top of what I normally do and it will keep me blogging.   If you want to follow along as well...click this link--Mojo Monday.

First Challenge of the year actually starting on December 31st at Mojo Monday Blog.
1st Sketch
Here is my take on the card sketch!

Alos, yesterday I wanted to make a Thank you card for a Christmas Gift I got from a friend....a cover for my laptop.  Love it!!  To make the snow fall, I used a toothbrush and very wet paint....a trick I learned many many years ago from my oil painting teacher.  All you have to do is take white paint that is not thick..rub the toothbrush in the paint.....raise the brush up above the card with the bristles facing the card...run your thumb along the bristles and the paint will flick off the brush and fall onto the card.

Well, that is it for now.  Until next time....
Thank you stopping by.  Happy New Years!!!

Silver Wreath

To make the wreath card, I found something to pencil a light circle where I wanted the wreath to be on my card.  I did not have silver cardstock so I used a silver inkpad and covered a piece of white paper really heavy with color.  After it dried (which took some time!)...I used a Martha Stewart bough punch to punch-out several silver boughs.  Using the circle as a guide to help me keep it round I glued down the boughs to form a wreath.  I used the bow easy to make the bow leaving the ribbon tails long in length.  I tacked the the bow down using my homemade glue dots in areas making the bow tails curve and lift up slightly.  I trimmed off bow tails to the length I wanted.
I stamped my sentiment on a piece of scrap paper that was cut to the size I wanted beforehand and glued it down.
Before matting it onto the black cardstock, I punched the holes all the way around the card first.
The black, silver and white of the card gives the card an elegant look I think.

New Years will be here soon.  Do you have a New Years Resolution picked out?
I don't normally make a New Year Resolution...but I am considering one for this year.

Have a wonderful day!

Christmas Napkin Card

Did you know that you could make a card out of napkins?  Better yet, make an invitation that you can coordinate with any party theme?  There are so many cool looking napkins out there that you could use and for so many occasions!  I found a package that was perfect for a Christmas card.  This particular napkin could only be used once but some napkins (depending on the size) could make 2 to 4 cards off one napkin.

The card is easy to do and does not have to involve any stamping unless you want to stamp on the inside.
All you need is

IRON (heated w/o steam)
CARDSTOCK FOLDED IN 1/2
(I used 4 by 5 to fit in my envelopes)
PLASTIC WRAP (Seran Wrap)
OLD MAGAZINE
DECORATED NAPKINS

Step 1:  Most napkins are 2 ply or 3 ply.  You only need the top ply which is the decorated piece.  Carefully pull the decorated ply away from the others.  It is best to start at one corner and work your way all the way down.  Just keep the top ply and use the remaining ply to clean up your area later. *S*

Step 2: Open up your old magazine and lay your card down on it..making sure the front of the card is facing up

Step 3:  Cover the card with a piece of plastic wrap that is slightly larger than the card.  It will all be trimmed off later.

Step 4:  Put your napkin face up over the plastic wrap & card in the desired position you want.  Make sure you have the decoration of the napkin where you want it to be.  For this card it was easy for me to just match up the one corner of the decoration because the rest of it was just white space.

Step 5:  Close a couple of pages of the magazines over your card, plastic wrap and napkin sandwich.    Press the iron down onto the magazine for 15 seconds so the heat penetrates through the magazine and napkin onto the plastic wrap.  Make sure to get the entire card...especially the edges.  Allow it to cool for about one minute before you pull back the magazine pages to check if the napkin adhered to the card.  If not, just close the pages and redo the area that did not stick down.

Step 6:  Trim down excess to the size of the card.  That is it!!  Now the card is ready for you to embellish more or you can do like me and leave as is.  Inside you can print your sentiment out and glue it to the inside or stamp.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  I know that I did!  Matter of fact..it isn't over for us yet.  We have friends who arrived last night and we will celebrate once more.
It is the good feeling being surrounded by people I love.

Merry Christmas

Snow Cabin & SnowMan

First I have a Cabin with snow.  I use the crayon resist technique on this card.  I used a white crayon and colored all the areas I wanted to stay white for snow and then sponged on the color.

Here I have a Snowman done up in purples.  Not my typical color scheme on a Christmas card but he came out cute.  I love this guy!  It is a very old stamp that I make sure to use each year.
The snowman was stamped and colored on the inside of the card so I put a window on the cover.  Now you can see him when the card is closed or open.

*do not pay attention to the black spot on the card!!  my  camera apparently had a piece of dirt on it when I took the photo!!*

I have not giving away this card yet.  I am trying to decide between two people whom we will see next week.

Or perhaps......I might just keep it!

5 More Christmas Cards!

Are you ready yet for Christmas?  We are down to just 3 more days to shop for Christmas.  I have all my cards mailed, all my gifts bought, packages mailed and received.  I just need to wrap three that are for here.

Here are a few more cards I made.  I need to get a different program or camera as the ones I have just do not show the glitter in the photos.  This first two cards have so much sparkle on them and yet the photos just shows a little.  Use your imagination...lol

Enjoy!

2 Santa Tags

One of my daughter-in-laws asked me to make a couple of big tags so Santa could attach them to each of my grandchildren's gifts.  She wanted tags she could reuse over and over....

She said she loved them...and as usual...I went over the top...she didn't expect them to be so beautiful!   Those who know me.... know that is me! lol

I wanted one layer so no parts would fall off over the years.  Also it would make it easier if she wanted to laminate them to preserve them.  I could not get the sparkle to show up when I took the photos...just know that they have glitter on them....it is for Christmas and Christmas is all about sparkle and glitter!

Winter Wonderland 2012

A scene I wish I could really see!  I miss seeing snow so much this time of year.  Since I can't...I put my memories onto cards.

I made several of these cards as they went quick.  A piece of ripped paper, a sponge, ink, red marking pen and a couple of stamps.

Vendors at the office were the recipients of these cards to thank them for the year.

Thank you for stopping by!

Poinsettias

3rd Post For Today

Here are two Poinsettia cards I made.  They both use the mask technique so that I could get the evergreens behind the flower.

The first card was stamped with sticky glue and then sprinkled with the red flower soft I made

This next card was just stamped with red ink for the poinsettia.

Seasons Greetings Pink, Blue and Multi

Since I am very behind...I am just going to upload several Christmas Cards at a time.

I hope they inspired you to make one or two cards this year!  There's still time....7 days to go! I was inspired by Scrap Journey to make these cards.

Hanukkah 2012

I have a new computer...MacBook Pro and FINALLY I can upload photos of my cards to my blog!
I need to catch up!

I have been very busy making my Holiday Cards since July.  I have Christmas cards for my side of the family and Hanukkah cards for my husbands side.
Here are the Hanukkah cards I made.

I saw a lot of cards using the Triple Time Stamping and I decided to give it a try.
