Christmas Card Swap

Did you know Christmas was only 12 weeks away?  wow...I swear the older I get...the faster time goes!!  

I joined a Christmas swap recently and had to make a Christmas card with layers size 5 x 5.  I do not normally use 5 x 5 cards but the cards that returned back was so adorable I will definitely have to use the cards!!!  I will post the cards I received tomorrow.  

The card I chose to do was mostly done with a punch, ink and cricut.  The Poinsettia is from Anna Griffin Winter Wonderland. 

It was easy to sit and put these together once I got all the pieces cut.   I tend to add a lot of glitter on cards lately...something my sister Faye got me hooked on.  Not a lot of glitter on this one.   I like the final results.  Layered but easy to mail still.

Very busy Christmas Time!

I have been absent but not idle!  Not only was I busy trying to get ready for Christmas and finish my Christmas cards but I also had to get ready for a two week vacation!  

Now that is behind me and I am now on vacation, I thought I would just take a few minutes to post some of the cards I had been working on!

The Only Ones to Enjoy the Snowstorms...Snowmen

Ever happen to look at your pile of cards you made and discover you had some kind of theme going without knowing it?  I seem to be enjoying making Snowmen cards this year. because I have many made!  

Here is one of them...made from an embossing folder, sparkle, tulip puffy paint for snow, sponge, ink and markers!!

Serene Winter Day

You know in your head what you want to create for a card but do not have all the pieces?  Well...I have been wanting a window die to create a card like this for a long time.  I finally broke down and ordered one.  These cards were so much fun putting together that I ended up making 3.

Golden Christmas Flower

I was playing around with two new craft items I got recently.

One is the Anna Griffin Cricut Winter Wonderland Cartridge.  I cut out the swirl leaves that you see here.  I used gold stickles to sparkle up the leaves.

The second is the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Layered Poinsetta Die which is the Poinsetta.  I only used two layers on this card.

I sponged gold ink along the edge.  This card is actually very pretty when you see it in person.  Sometimes photos just do not do it justice!

I have not stamped a Sentiment on it yet.  I am holding off until last minute as I am not sure what I want to put there yet.

Toy Story Birthday Party 2013

I just recently returned from a 2 wk vacation to NH and MA to visit my family.  2 weeks prior to leaving, I made decorations for my granddaughter (3) and grandson's (1) combined Toy Story themed birthday party.  I wanted to share what I made....all done with the Cricut.  The largest images are about 11-12" high.  The banner was created to hang along their big fence but due to a major rain storm, we had to find a new place for the long banner to hang. Buzz was about 12" x 12" and was made to look like he was flying in the sky and pulling the banner.

Happy Mother's Day!!

The best time ever...phones calls and skyping with my grandchildren and my sons wishing me a Happy Mother's Day! 

Today my husband is cooking a big chicken dinner and we will bring it over hot to my in-laws to celebrate Mother's Day with mom.  We always make sure to make plenty when we do this so they have left-overs for the next day. 

I made this card for my Mother-In-Law from a free Cricut file.  I backed it with a pink cardstock so the fancy cut would show up better.  I added a layered flower, branches, stickles for sparkle and butterfly's from Stampin' Up to top it off.
I am hoping it is not too busy for her!!

Mothers N Others Day

30 Mothers N Others Day cards....all done!!

My husband puts on a Mothers Day Event for the Alzheimer Patients at the nursing home.  It is for the Mothers and "Others" (Care-givers).  It is a big event...everyone dresses up in their best...there is a wonderful meal, lots of memories and tears.  It started out with me volunteering to make the invitations several years ago and now has turned into a yearly event.  Many look forward to the hand-made invites that are sent.  

It is the only time I make so many cards alike and not something I enjoy doing but it sure feels good to know that they are going to those who really appreciate them!

This Beautiful Alzheimer poem was added inside the invite
