52 CCT November Stash Challenge

This is the last Christmas card challenge for November.  One more in December and then I will be concentrating getting all out in the mail.

It's Gill's month to announce the challenges and although the badge states Gilding Flakes, we are allowed to use foil as well.  I had fun working with my Minc machine until I broke it.  I have had it only a couple of years so I was disappointed.  I was foiling a lot of images today for Christmas and birthday.  Towards the end..as I was feeding another image through...everything got stuck.  I ended up yanking everything out but ruined it by doing so.  Needless to say I have another laminator ordered today.  

Here are the ingredients for my card.  One of the tools below is a Spellbinders Quick Trimmer.  I bought only the replacement blades.  You get two in the package. One is for foil and the other is for paper.  I LOVE the blade for foil.  It cuts perfectly through foil and much faster than grabbing a pair of scissors. 

Here are a few closeups of the snowflake...some with flash and some without.  The words behind the snowflake are also foiled but the background stamp is an unknown company.   On the snowflake I used two sided tape and used the snowflake die to cut out the image.  I took a piece of foil and kept pressing it against the snowflake until it was covered.  Keep in mind, you cannot use the foil for hot foiling.  The camera does not do it justice.  It really came out pretty.

52 CCT January Sketch Challenge

 Good morning and Welcome to the first Challenge of the new year!

Did anyone make a New Years Revolution?  Mine will be repeated from last year and it is to actually work on Christmas cards each week.  I accomplished it last year and the stress level to get them done was gone!

If you do one card a week, you will have 52 Christmas cards done.

Today is our first 2020 challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.  Week one of the month is always a sketch.  Just a reminder, you can flip that sketch anyway you want to...upside down, sideways or you can do like I did for this sketch.  I left the sketch as is and used that as my inspiration.  

My background was created with alcohol inks and some Deco foil.  I love this technique because you can get some very interesting backgrounds.  The foil is pressed on top before the ink completely dries and when you lift it off some of the foil stays behind where the ink was still tacky. It gives you a marbling affect.  If you try this technique, do not use the heat foil as it will work.

Foiling Christmas Folder

My husband bought me the GoPress and Foil machine last year for Christmas.  I have used it with the foil dies in the past but I just learned something new.  I am so excited.  I now have not one but two new ways to foil!  One uses my embossing folders with the GoPress and Foil machine.  The second is how to use the left over foils.

 Using the folder was so easy to do and worked so well my first time, I can't wait to try this method again.

In the picture above, the one that is white with navy snowflakes was with the embossing folder.  

The second photo with mostly navy blue was using up the leftover foil

I was so excited to try this out, I forgot to take photos as I went along so stay tuned.  I will try this again.
