52 CCT June Theme Challenge

Another Saturday 52 CCT Challenge at for you to help you get those Christmas Cards started.
Did you realize there are only 29 Saturdays left before Christmas?  That means you have about 26 weeks to get your cards done, labeled and in the mail!  When I counted it up...I said "UT OH".  Here I am so proud of 30 cards done and if I continue at this pace...1 a week....that would be 56 total cards done. That is a far cry from the 100 I need!

Ok..so on to the challenge.  Today it is about Vintage or Shabby. What does Shabby or Vintage mean?
Shabby means your card may have any of the following: lots of layers, ribbon, looks worn out and old, distressed, sponged edges and lots of embellishments.

I started my card by making my background to look like wood.  I used a Faux Wood Technique to make my background.  I embossed a line on the cardstock every 3/4" and used a very light blue marker over the lines.  It's hard to see on my card because it was covered up a lot but if you enlarge the photo by clicking on it, you will be able to see it better.

I love the church stamp from Serendipity Stamps.  I stamped it with Memento London fog color and used a brush to add an additional color to it. Memento Summer Sky color was sponged lightly around the church.  Noel came from Sizzix Christmas Phrases die which was cut from grey cardstock and a gelly roll glitter pen colored over it.  I also used the glitter pen to give a hint of sparkle to indicate snow areas on and around the church.  The distressed grey cardstock was used as a mat for the background and church.  The church area was popped up.  Silver stars, holly flourish from Penny Black, tinsel yarn was stuck in and around the church mat.  The bow from a Penny Black die set finished off the card.

A few layers, some distressing and embellishments...perfect card for the Shabby or vintage challenge.

Seahorse

When I went to Violette"s Scrapbook Store last weekend, I spotted the cutest die from Hero Arts "Paper Layering Seahorse".  I really "needed" it.  Last weekend, when I got together with friends, I put this together.  I cut the big and little seahorses out twice with white cardstock.  I used 2 different colored inks and sponge on the big seahorse.  The background was done with Arteza brush watercolor pens (teals, pink and purples) and once dried, it was embossed with Tim Holtz folder from the Waves and Bubbles folder set.
What do you think of eyes on the Seahorses?

To finish off the card, I used a gelly roll sparkle pen to give it some ocean sparkle.  I also ran some liquid glue along the bottom and sprinkled some Baked Texture for the sand look.

Update on this card:
I decided to use this card for a co-workers birthday.  She loves the beach and goes often.  This is what I put on the inside..

FUN FACT
Did you know a Seahorse does not
 have teeth
and no stomach?  Food passes
 through their digestive systems
 so quickly they
 must eat constantly.

Why can’t we be like that….
at least on our birthday….
when our favorite birthday

dessert is sitting in front of us?

Crafting With Friends and Stampscapes

I got together with some friends last weekend and had so much fun.  First we spent the day at Violette's and we all brought back so much with us.  If you live in the area...you REALLY need to visit this craft store!  Just plan several hours when you do!  Sunday we all got together again and played with some Stampscapes stamps,We pooled our stamps together and had so much fun using them.  I wish I could tell you what inks I used but I was borrowing them from a friend.

Here is my first card.  I really enjoyed making this card.  It is so peaceful looking.  I want to be sitting on those rocks with my feet in the water while reading.  No sentiment on this card yet.  It will remain blank until I need it.

This card is my second attempt.  I had made this before here.  I used this one already as a birthday card for my sister-in-law.

Thank you for stopping by!

52 CCT June Color Challenge

Hello Everyone!  Happy Saturday.  Welcome to June's Color Challenge at 52CCT.  I love the colors chosen this time...Pink, Gray and Kraft.  If you are wondering what is a Kraft color...think of cardboard and the color of it.   There actually is a cardstock called Kraft, which I used here.  If you do not have it, use a brown cardstock that you have which is close in color.
I have never seen a pink snowflake but hey........it worked for this Christmas Card!!

Hope to see you in the gallery!

52 CCT June Sketch Challenge

Time for sketch challenge!  Most of the pieces for my card was found in my junk box.  I did use a die to cut the evergreens out but I used left-overs from my junk box.  Love being able to use up what I have.  No more hoarding for that "perfect" card.
Happy to say....it's only been 5 months and I already have 30 Christmas Cards in my stash at this time.
What a good feeling!

Here is the sketch to use.  Remember, look at it upside or sideways!  Anything goes.

Now...head on over to 52 CCT to check out all the other Design Teams works of art!  Thank you for stopping by!

Sparkling Leaf Burst

I think this card is so beautiful, especially with that teal on the bronze mirror cardstock from Stampin Up.  I used an Altenew Leaf Burst Stencil along with 2 colors of Nuvo Glimmer paste.  Glimmer Paste Blue Topaz on the bottom 1/2 of the stencil and on the top 1/2 you can see I used a darker color...Glimmer Paste Sapphire Blue.

See how it sparkles?  That paste glides on so easy and dries so fast.  It dries so fast make sure you clean up the stencil and knife right away.  I keep a small bucket of warm water to drop them in.

This is one of those cards you can keep on hand until you need to add a sentiment to finish it off.   It can be a masculine card, birthday card and in my case.....a thank you card!

Whatever you like to do for craft....I hope you have a great day doing it!

52 CCT May Technique Challenge

Have you ever heard of the Eraser Technique?  This method was the technique we had to use this week at 52 CCT.  I had not heard of it before, so I was really excited to plan this card and give it a try.
It's very easy.  Here are the materials I used.  Everything I had at home.

All I used was cardstock, Ink, rubber stamp, stencil, brush instead of a sponge, eraser, pencil, hairspray, a piece of sandpaper, clear Wink of Stella and Copic.

I rubbed the pencil against the sandpaper and got a lot of pencil shavings onto a piece of paper.  I used the brush to pick up the pencil shavings and rubbed them all over my cardstock and stencil.
Next I stamped my image right over the top.  I used the eraser to erase everything I wanted white.  Colored with copics and used Wink of Stella where I wanted the sparkle.  I had a bit of an issue with the Wink of Stella...it dropped a big drop onto one of the snowmen so I had to kinda put it on thick in other areas as well.  It ended up being ok!  I thought I had ruined the card.  The hairspray finished off the card.  Just sprayed lightly to fix the pencil onto the cardstock so it would not smudge.

Here is the finished look!

What do you think?  Ready to give it a try?  If you do...come on over to 52 CCT and share what you made with us.

52 CCT May Theme Challenge

Theme time over at 52 CCT!  The theme is choral and fit perfect with the IO singers die I got last year and never used.  These sweet little dears just singing their heart out.  Reminds me of many years ago when I use to go with a group Christmas Caroling in town.  The smiles it brought to those who lived at the nursing home was the best!

The snow in the background is from a SU folder.  I wiped an ink pad across the folder on the de-bossed side of the folder so the snow falling will be white.  The light post and tree is also a SU die.
I die cut the Sizzix Cheer out twice...black and white....so I could offset the word with black.  The SU dazzling diamonds finished off the card to make sparkling snow.

52 CCT May Color Challenge

Silver, brown and teal are my 3 favorites together and lucky for me, it is the color scheme at 52CCT Color Challenge this week!

Mix of dies and my Big Shot made it easy to put this card together.  Seems lately, my go-to glue is the Mono Multi liquid glue.  It dries fast and holds so well through mailing in the Florida heat.  It has been a concern of mine, especially since it takes so long for mail to leave Florida and the heat.  Nothing we hate more, than to hear our works of love arrives and it is falling apart!

Anyone who lives where it is hot, what is your go-to glue?

52 CCT May Sketch Challenge

Christmas comes just once a year but as you can tell from my blog....it's Christmas here in my craft room year long.
Designing a card isn't hard however there are times when we all get that crafting block.  You can stare at papers, dies and stamps  forever and not a single idea pops into your head.
.  Each week, at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown,  we help you out with samples and ideas to get you started.
This week it is a sketch.
A sketch is just a guide or a suggestion and just gives you a base to start from.  Remember, you can flip it any way you desire!

Here is my version!

I used left over scraps for my card so I cannot tell you what company they came from.  I even found the stars still stuck in the die!  I am into using scraps these days and are my go-to lately.  The silver trees are a punch from Stampin Up.  I was lucky to find the right colors of thin yarn from years ago.

So here's the sketch.  Have fun with it and thank you for stopping by.

52 CCT April Stash Challenge

My card for today, uses a printed holiday paper set called "Snowflake Ridge Collection".

I bought it from Scrapbook.com but you can also get it at Amazon, Ebay, Michaels and more.  The collection has to be my favorite paper in many years and I have used it alot.  Since it is double sided, I am tempted to buy another pack and use the other side as well.

The paper I chose from that collection had peppermint candies, snowflakes, flowers, poinsettias and several colors. I went with poinsettias theme and I pulled the colors teal and white to work with.  I had a sparkling piece of cardstock left over that was 2 tone teal so I used it for my mat, words and leaves.  I love how the die cut leaves look!  If you turn it in the light, the leaf veins look like another color so I used my flash so you could see what I was talking about.  You can also see the two colors on the words.  I cut Joyous out of the lighter area and Noel out of the darker color of the two tone cardstock.

Since the cardstock is so busy, I chose a plain color for the rest.  I used iridescent white for the poinsettias, frame, mat, and banner.

So now it is your turn to play!
Come on over to 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

Check out past challenges to help you with ideas as there are some great works of art from many who have played along.

See you there!

Thank You in Black Magic Stamping

Black magic technique has been around for years.
All it is, is stamping on dark cardstock with an image that is not just an outline....a more solid or mostly solid image....with white pigment ink  You want to let the image dry completely or use a heat gun if you are in a hurry.  I stamped my images the night before.
Once dry, grab your pencils and start coloring!

First card I used Derwent InkTense pencils colors

Poppy Red
Sienna Gold
Sun Yellow
Field Green
Apple Green

Second card I used same technique but this time I used PrismaColor Pencils colors
Light Aqua
Cobalt Turquoise
Violet Lake
Cerulean Blue
White

Fluttering By to Say Thank you

Dropping by to show you a simple quick card.
Simple only because I used left over pieces that were already colored.  All I did was to glue, stickle and add the words.  Sometimes it pays to dig in my box of throw aways!

Enjoy your crafting day!

WaterColor Dog Sympathy

Most dogs and humans have long and close connections.  Many of us need them and they need us.  If you are like me...losing your 4-legged friend might be one of your worst days.

I know two who lost their long time friends within the same week so making two dog sympathy cards was double hard.
I used Arteza water color brushes to color up the two different images to match the breeds.  They have already received them in the mail so it was ok to share now.

In time...may the memories of their precious friend soften the sadness of their hearts.

Westie

Schnauzer

Arteza Colors:
Bright Blue
Artic Blue
True Blue
Parma Gray
Bumblebee Yellow
Wisteria Purple

Big hugs to you both.

52 CCT April Color Challenge

Today's challenge at 52 CCT is about color.
Metallic and one other color.
I chose gold metallic and a blue foil scrap paper that I had left over from long ago.

I put double sided tape on the back of the metallic gold cardstock and used the die to cut out my design. A little bling, also from my stash, finished off the card.
I have always enjoyed the color of blue and gold together.
How are you doing with your Christmas cards?  Getting anywhere yet?  Only 6 months left to go for when panic sets in!  LOL

Here is the challenge....

Let's see what you have.....Tag your it!

52 CCT April Sketch Challenge

It's sketch time again at 52 CCT challenge!
I love these challenges as they really make me think and plan my cards.  I flip them all over until I am happy.

This time I flipped the image upside down so the rays looked like they were coming down from a star.

I colored the rays by using copic colors B06 and B000 in my compressor.  To keep the straight lines, I just used a long piece of post it note and kept moving it to get each ray.
The snowflakes are a mixture of stamps from different companies.
The trees in the background is the slope shown on the sketch.

Good luck to those who join in on the challenge at www.52cct.blogspot.com

Have a great weekend everyone!
