Happy 4th of July!

I used the spotlight technique on this card.  Sometimes it is good to go back and use the basics I learned many years ago when I first began.  The letters were stamped using the old fashion wheel where you move the rubber around until the letters you need are all at the top.

I got a new camera a few months ago and I noticed it had a setting on it just for fireworks.  I figured tonight was my only chance to use it for a whole year so I went out and found a couple to take from neighbors shooting fireworks off.
Not to shabby!!!

Birthday and 4th Celebration Card

Happy 4th of July Everyone!!

I just returned from a 2 week vacation by myself to see my family.  I had the best time ever!!
Before I left, I made a card for a friend/co-worker who's birthday is today but unfortunately I took a picture of it before I added more to it and finished it.  I left it for someone to give to her for me since I would be gone and forgot to take the final product.  Just imagine a small Happy Birthday white tag with blue border handing off with red and blue ribbon!
Happy Birthday Diana!

Squiggly and Glittery Birthday

I have a very old stamp that is nothing but lines cross and wavy lines.  I do not know what company this stamp is.  I don't think I have ever used it!  That is so sad...to have stamps for years and they never felt the ink?  Do you have any ink-less stamps laying around?  I challenge you to use them!  At least once....

I started out by cutting the yellow cardstock size I wanted first.  I stamped a set of lines to the far right and far left on the yellow cardstock before I stamped the two middle.  I put the whole card together and then broke out the glittery stickles...orange, blues, greens, reds, green, purple and yellow dots were dropped onto the card.

Nothing says celebration like glitter!

Pin Wheel, Spring and Birthdays

I have a birthday card I keep forgetting share with you all that I made at a Stampin' Up Card Class.  It is a fun birthday card and I love the color mix!  It reminds me of the days, when pinwheels showed up in stores.  Pinwheels always signified that spring had finally arrived!

Have a great crafty day!

Happy Mother's Day!!

The best time ever...phones calls and skyping with my grandchildren and my sons wishing me a Happy Mother's Day!

Today my husband is cooking a big chicken dinner and we will bring it over hot to my in-laws to celebrate Mother's Day with mom.  We always make sure to make plenty when we do this so they have left-overs for the next day.

I made this card for my Mother-In-Law from a free Cricut file.  I backed it with a pink cardstock so the fancy cut would show up better.  I added a layered flower, branches, stickles for sparkle and butterfly's from Stampin' Up to top it off.
I am hoping it is not too busy for her!!

So Sorry Sunsets

*SIGH*  Some cards are difficult to make.  I love to create...don't get me wrong!  It is the reason for the card that gets to me.

These cards are to go to the local nursing home that I donate too.   Seems more sympathy cards are needed to send to the family members when they lose someone at the nursing home.  =(
At least my cards them feel a little bit better as it is combined with a personal note.

I used a circle Nestabilty taped down onto my cardstock so that I could sponge the ink in a perfect circle.
(shhhhhh.....don't say anything but I always use the painters blue tape which I stole from my husbands workbench LOL.)
I love it as it holds very well yet is not too sticky to make it hard to remove after.  Also, I can use it several times before I have to throw it away.
After I was done inking, I removed the circle, stamped the image and the "So Sorry" with black Momento ink.  Each card was basically done the same way but different..if that makes sense lol.
I hope you take time to look around.  You never know!  You might find something interesting!
thank you

Peony Blues

A blue flower for a blue situation....sympathy.

I used a Stampendous stamp called Jumbo Peony and jumbo it is!!
Because it is so large, I stamped part of the flower off the card.
It was colored with Twin Touch markers.
The "So Sorry" stamp and the top border paper was from Stampin' Up.

Mojo Monday #290

As you can see....my Mojo Monday post are not exactly in order!  I am trying to get caught up and working on whatever "calls" me at the moment.  *S*

Have you ever been to YouTube and watched the crafting videos?  If you haven't...you are missing out!!  Lots of great talents and ideas!!

I love this peacock image and thought it would be perfect for the Thumping Technique  from Youtube that I found.

Thank you for stopping by...come back soon!

Mojo Monday #287

I know two people who are very sad right now and they need a pick me up really bad.  I have a stamp that says "If your feeling blue-trying painting yourself a different color".  I knew that it was perfect for them and I had to choose the most brightest wild colorful paper that I had to go along with the Mojo Monday #287 sketch to create my card.
I used faux stitching around the outside.  As you can see, I used MANY colors of stickles glitter glue for the bubbles and for the fairy.
I hope it will bring a smile to their faces!

Come back soon!!  I have more to share!!

Junk Kind of Day and Mojo #288!

Why is today a junk kind of day?  I have posted before that all my mistakes or "junk" creations that I dislike/can't use, are thrown into a container for future use.  I have found what I don't like now or can't use now can sometimes be used in the future.
Today I decided to challenge myself...to dig in that container to see what I could use from junk pile.  I found some interesting items to use!

I decided on what junk pieces might be turned into a creative art.  Here is what I came up with!  It's sort of the Chalkboard technique.

Both pieces, background and the image was in that pile. The background was an flower image I had stamped in both corners embossed in white and sponged color over the top.   I matted the background onto crimson card.  The image was a Stampin' Up image that was suppose to be embossed with white and I accidentally used clear.  I used Prism pencils to color the arm and cake...white Prism pencil to draw the outside lines.  I took my finger and dipped it into white ink and smudged all over the rest of it to make the words show up more.
Beginning to build up my stash of birthday cards once again!

Next card, I found a scrap piece left over from my Weathered Background Technique post.  I also found a card that had a blue embossed background already glued down and 2 black flowers that  were stamped with Perfect Medium and dusted with several colors of Perfect Pearls.

This card was also a Mojo Monday's sketch #288

What is that famous saying...One man's junk is another man's treasure?  Well ...today.....I was in both positions!!!

Old Enough For Modern Plumbing

Another fun card!  This stamped image is one of the Impression Obsession Outhouse rubberstamps.

  • I used my Touch Twin markers to color the image before I did any sponging.
  • First I punched out a circle for the size sun I wanted on a large piece of scrap paper.
  • I used the scrap paper that had the hole in it and tacked it down where I wanted the sun to be. If you notice I placed it over where the water will be as well as the sky because it will end up looking like a reflection in the water.
  •  I sponged yellow ink really well, removed the scrap paper and tacked the circle I punched out on top of the sun to protect it as I sponged the sky and water around it.
  • I used another piece straight piece of scrap paper to mask off the sky so I could sponge on the blue for the water.
  • I flipped the paper over and masked off the water so I could sponge the sky.

It actually went together very quickly.  Most people  use a brayer to create the water and sky.  I have yet to master that technique.  I do much better with a sponge!

Thank you for stopping by!

Stained Glass Butterfly

A co-worker is leaving...her last day is today.  She is off in a difference directions in her life.  I will truly miss her as she makes me laugh so easy.

Her all-time favorites are butterflies and whenever I make her a card...there is always a butterfly somewhere on the card.

This the card I made her last night..

The  technique I used was Stained Glass Technique on vellum.  Very easy to do and quick.
1.  I stamped the Stampin Up Swallowtail Butterfly on vellum with versa mark and embossed with black embossing powder.
2.  Flipped the image over and colored on the opposite side with regular markers.
3.  Flipped back over to the embossed side and used a Stampin UP white pen (best white pen EVER) to make my white marks on the embossed side.
4.. Cut the butterfly out and taped down onto an embossed white cardstock and then matted it on black cardstock.

Inside saying is also Stamping Up Stamp from Feels Good Set- "Laughter is the shortest distance between two people".

I know she will love it!

Good luck Kristin!  I will miss the boom da boom da boom da dance!  *S*

You ole Buzzard!

I found an image online of a vulture so I used it on a birthday card for my Brother-in-law.

I printed it 3 times on white cardstock and colored the 1st one completely.  I colored the head only on the 2nd one down to the neck feathers.  The 3rd one I needed only the head with the beak and neck feathers.  Each piece was cut and glued on top of each other using thin pop dots.

For the background I used scrap paper to mask off the mountains and inked the blue.  For the grass and sky I just sponged the ink on.  The trees were stamped with a dark green.

After I was done with the scene, I glued the vulture down on top.
Inside it says:  Happy Birthday You ole buzzard!

I made this card twice and on the second card you can see the mountains in the background a lot better than on this card.

After making 30 invites of cream color...I needed some "color" in my crafty life! lol

Mothers & Others 2013

Well the cards are finally done!  I did 31 one of them!!
They were due by the end of April and I got them all done earlier this week.  I am impressed with myself as I got them done 2 wks before the due date!
I went through several cards before the right card was chosen.

My inspiration came from Pinterest at http://pinterest.com/pin/232357661996268901/
Which is really pinned from the home of Elly's Card Corner

Before putting the cards together, I had to cut, emboss and ink all the pieces so it was all done in piecework.  This is the only time where I do piecework as I am not the type of person who will make many cards that look the same.

I used the following to create my card
EK Butterfly Layering Punch
EK Border Sunburst Punch
Martha Stewart 5 Leaf Punch
Stampin' Up Doily Triple Layer Punch
Stampin' Up Blossom Punch
Nestabilities (put them away before getting the names)
Cuttlebug Dot Embossing Folder

After each piece was punched/cut out, I used a sponge and inked the edge of every piece with Jim Holtz Distress Ink Wild honey.  The Hero Arts "Your Invited" stamp was also stamped with the same ink.  My fingers were pretty "yellow" looking by the time I got done...lol

Since this is an Alzheimer special event on Mothers Day....I found a poem on the internet and placed it inside.

Do not ask me to remember
don't try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know you're with me
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.
I'm confused beyond your concept
I am sad and sick and lost.
All I know is that I need you
to be with me at all cost.
Do not lose your patience with me
Don't scold or curse or cry
I can't help the way I'm acting
Can't be different though I try.
Just remember that I need you,
That the best of me is gone.
Please don't fail to stand beside;
love me 'til my life is done.

Swallowtail & H2O's Background

I wanted to show you a card I made using the background paper from the post Mulberry Meets H2O's.  This time I used the white cardstock that was made into an H2O background paper.  The Swallowtail was stamped on the cardstock with black ink and then colored with more H2O's.
I like the hint of color that surrounded the butterfly.  After I was done, I outlined the butterfly with a lighter blue marker.

I still have left over from both the mulberry and the cardstock.  I am going to put them aside for now to use another day.

Have a wonderful crafty day and thank you for stopping by!

Bloglovin

Since Google Reader is going away....I added the Bloglovin' Widget to my page (to the right) for those who are switching over.

What is bloglovin?  It is the EASIEST way to follow all your favorite blogs.  I used Google reader for some blogs and others came by email.  My email was really getting bogged down with all the blogs that I read so I switched them over to bloglovin.  Now I can see every time a blog is updated.  Best part was, bloglovin made it easy to move the blogs I read through Google Reader by a click of a button!

Be back later with a card!
