52 CCT August Theme Challenge

This was a fun challenge-Under the Sea!
I knew right off what I wanted to do.
Now Santa goes everywhere delivering packages, but what about the Mermaids who live down below in the deep sea?
So I imaged Santa diving down deep to deliver.
My card is about Santa swimming in the deep deep blue.
First I colored up the image from Kit and Clowder with Prismacolor Pencils.  I won't tell you how many hours it took me to color.
Let's just say, to do my next step was a heart stopper.
You ever have these big plans towards the end of your creations and your plan could literally destroy everything you just did?
I had no idea if you could water color over pencils.  I had this fear something would smudge and of course I wanted until the last minute to get this card done.  Nothing to do now but to jump in with both feet.  I grabbed my Shimmery LuminArte pots and spritz them with water.
My plan was to color side to side to give a sense of being underwater.  I used the colors Blue Ice along the bottom, Sea Breeze in the middle and blended in Sage to the top.  After swiping the color across, I dabbed with a paper towel.  After it dried, some of the prismacolor pencil coloring had dulled so I took a few of the Prismacolor Pencils and quickly went over the corals to bring the color out.
The image of Santa was something I had in my computer so I printed him out and popped him up.
The card came out like I planned.
Perfect card for someone living in Florida.

Now come join us over at https://52cct.blogspot.com/ and hopefully you will get inspired to give this challenge a try.

Thank you

Happy 94th Birthday Dad!

I can't believe my Father-in-law's 94th birthday is today!  The past year has been a health struggle for him but he is doing very well now.  It gives me great pleasure to be able to make him another birthday card.
Since he lives in Florida, I decided to make him a card with an ocean scene.

I created the background laying down 3 colors of Oxide Inks onto white cardstock.  I just learned how you can spritz a stencil with a little bit of water and then flip it over onto the Oxide inks, press a paper towel on top to sop up the water and remove the stencil.  Use a heat gun to dry the card and watch the magic of the stencil appear on top!  For his card, I used one to make it look like waves in the water.

The turtles were colored with Copics and hand cut out.  I used a molding mat and a ball tool to press on the underside of the turtle so they would be more 3D.

I added a small amount of silicone glue so the areas I rubbed will stay rounded.  It keeps the image from squishing flat in mailing.

After putting all the parts together, I put a little bit of glue and sprinkle the sand along the bottom.

The whole top scene has foam under it to raise it above the ocean behind it.

Dad, I love to sit at dinner and listen to you talk about your past.  I love to hear about all the obstacles you faced growing up and depths of your experiences.  It's been such a pleasure getting to know you over the years.  You have so much wisdom and knowledge.  I especially love how you save everything to recreate or fix. Well, everything except that can opener!  You fixed it so well that it now takes the top of a can off so fast, I am afraid for my life and step way back!  *LOL* It works though!

Happy Birthday Dad.
I am looking forward to making you another year of cards in the coming year.

Kit and Clowder-Dolphins

This image was one I colored a few months ago but never finalized into a card.  Now that I have lots of RAK's to do, I thought it was the perfect time to finish up and send off.
This class was a Copic Aug 2018 class I did with Kit and Clowder called "Underwater Magic".

This digital stamp was included in the class through Kit and Clowder.

Slowing building up my RAK cards and several, I think, will go in the mail this week.

Kit and Clowder-Lighthouse

My husband bought me a box of 150 Prismacolor Premier Pencils for Christmas two years ago.  I signed up for Kit and Clowder pencils classes several months ago to learn how to use them.  Happy to say I am finally putting the two to work!

This card was from the August 2019 Pencil class called "Guiding Light".

I love that we can download the videos and book to work at our leisure for each of the classes.  The steps are so easy to follow and it's so relaxing coloring.

The lighthouse stamp was part of the Guiding Light class.
Off to go work on another class!

Seahorse

When I went to Violette"s Scrapbook Store last weekend, I spotted the cutest die from Hero Arts "Paper Layering Seahorse".  I really "needed" it.  Last weekend, when I got together with friends, I put this together.  I cut the big and little seahorses out twice with white cardstock.  I used 2 different colored inks and sponge on the big seahorse.  The background was done with Arteza brush watercolor pens (teals, pink and purples) and once dried, it was embossed with Tim Holtz folder from the Waves and Bubbles folder set.
What do you think of eyes on the Seahorses?

To finish off the card, I used a gelly roll sparkle pen to give it some ocean sparkle.  I also ran some liquid glue along the bottom and sprinkled some Baked Texture for the sand look.

Update on this card:
I decided to use this card for a co-workers birthday.  She loves the beach and goes often.  This is what I put on the inside..

FUN FACT
Did you know a Seahorse does not
 have teeth
and no stomach?  Food passes
 through their digestive systems
 so quickly they
 must eat constantly.

Why can’t we be like that….
at least on our birthday….
when our favorite birthday
-->
dessert is sitting in front of us?

Peaceful Ocean Turtles

A woman saw a Christmas card I made my boss last year and asked if I could make her husband a birthday card for her.

I had not used these dies nor had I inked up the turtle before.  After I was done, I was reminded of the time I once saw a turtle while on vacation.  I was snorkeling by myself in the ocean by Turks and Caicos.  I was giddy with happiness as I spotted a turtle peacefully swimming along without a care in the world!  I followed him at a safe distance away so I would scare him.  It was a pure joy to watch.

This card was fun to make..especially since it reminded me of that day snorkeling with the big sea turtle.

Happy Crafting!

Mermaid Cellafina

I wanted to share to share a card I created using Mandy's Mermaid image.

I printed the image 3 times using Word to get the size I wanted.  My plan was to glue the image together in layers.  I lightly colored some areas with Copic markers, depending on the area I needed on each of the three images.  After the markers, I recolored using Spectrum Noir sparkle glitter brush pens.  To blend the colors in the hair and on the Mermaid, I had to work fast as the glitter dries quick.  The only part that was not colored with the glitter brush pens was the skin areas.  Those areas are colored with Copic and left alone.  Cutting it all out took some time, especially around the Mermaid.

You can see some of the sparkles shine through with the close ups.  To make the bubbles, I used a 2 sizes of sticky dots and pressed tiny glass beads into it until all areas were covered.

Cellafina was fun to color, especially using the glitter pens.  If you want to give her a try as well, you can find this image at Mandy's shop... AkaManuArt.

Go have some fun!
