Birthday for The Boss

When there is a birthday at work, we start our work day by celebrating the birthday with cards and snacks. I have been making my own cards for about 2 years now. This is a card I made my boss last month. It took me 3 hours to make this card because I just could not get it to look right! I used my Cuttlebug and Nestability to cut out the window and to make the window edging. I stamped the cattail weeds, cut them out and glued them down. For the cattail ends I used a slot punch and glued them down on the weeds. Dragonfly was stamped and embossed on vellum. I have popdots under the wings to keep them up off the card. I used sponge to color the sunset, stampd the weeds and used the slot punch again to make the cattails. Supplies *Martha Stewart Border Punch * Cuttlebug *Nestability *DragonFly stamps unknown *Hot Off The Press Word & Scroll stamp *Cardstock: Unknown Following From Stampin Up *Slot Punch *Inspired By Nature Stamp *Classic Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, Yoyo Yellow

March MCE-Smoosh Technique

I joined the MCE-which means Monthly Card Exchange. I am giving a name of a person I make and send a card too. Someone else will get my name and send me one. Sometimes there is a theme and sometimes there is not. March did not have a theme. The bird card is the card I made and sent out.
Technique I used to make the background is called "Smoosh Technique". Don't you love the name Smoosh?
First you want to lay two pieces of glossy cardstock on newspaper as the color will spill over off the cardstock.
Spritzed water on them. Drop two or three colors of reinkers on one.
I spritzed water again lightly on the glossy cardstock with the reinkers. It made the colors spread out.
Now lay the other glossy cardstock on top and press down. I used my brayer to roll back and forth. It will push out the extra water and color.
Now pull apart and let dry.
Now spray Krylon Web Spray on top of the background and let that dry. You will have enough background to do a couple of cards.
The Bunny and the basket is the card I received in returned. Joyce did a wonderful job. I really like my card!! She left it blank inside so that I could use it for Easter but of course I will not give it away!! Thank you Joyce for the beautiful card.

Mystery Image-Elmo

A yahoo group I belong to has a Mystery Monthly Challenge and this months image is Elmo. I thought he was going to be difficult to create with as I normally do not use these types of images. I am broadening my horizons! He was fun to color. I used Twinkling H2O's to color him and the blue background. The confetti was left over stickers that I had from long long ago. It felt good to "use it up"!. The background was stamped with an Outline Stamp. I am sure I will have to eventually send a young person a birthday card!

Bear Hug

I wanted to make a card for the husband of a yahoo group friend. He was feeling a bit down so my intent was to put a smile on his face. It was hard to find stamps that could be used for a man! I can see I need to really shop in that department! I came across this stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms called Welcome Spring. Neither of them knew I had made and sent him a card so it was a surprise to both. Feedback said it worked! He smiled!!

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long Challenge #6

Every Monday, Christmas Stampin' All Year Long puts out a new sketch challenge. This time we had to use three or more eyelets and no other embellishments except for a tag. I used holly leaf eyelets on my tag. The Fairy was colored with markers except the wings. I colored them only with Shimmerz. The mask I made for the fairy was not an easy task but I was able to protect her so I could stamp the background with ink and a sponge. I used clear embossing to stamp on the green cardstock across the middle and then I dusted it with perfect pearls. I didn't have an evergreen bough so I had to use a regular tree. Oh Well....it worked!! This card with the green ribbon was my first attempt. I turned it into a card anyway even tho I messed up! Supplies: *SU InkWild Wasabi, Garden, Green, Whisper white, Real Red *SU Lovely As a Tree *Inkadinkado Snowflakes *Hot Off The Press Christmas Art Word Stamp *Susana's Custom Art & Card Design Fairy Stamp "Sabrina"
