Birthday Step Block Card

I am always learning new techniques or fancy folds and I came across a very interesting card.  They did not tell us what the fancy fold name was. I went on the hunt for the name and for directions.

I finally came across the name Step Block fold.  Once I had the name I needed the directions.  Best place to get directions for pretty much anything in life is youtube!  After watching many, I found one...Papercrafter45.   She made it very easy to follow with all the directions typed right on the photos and very easy to stop and go.

A co-worker of mine is getting into making cards and it was her birthday.  I wanted to make a really fancy card so this one was perfect for her.  The card folds flat so you can slip it into an A2 envelope.  Because of the big flower on it, the envelope was bulky but this card can certainly be made to be flat and be mailed with no problem.

Here is my version!

If you like fancy folds with a WOW effect...try this one!  It actually is very easy!

until next time....

SBR-Us Challenge 65-Music

The Challenge I decided to conquer was Challenge #65-Music and what better card to go with this theme?  Birthday card of course!  There is always singing the Happy Birthday song in our household.  As a matter of fact...our family knows...on their birthday they WILL get a call from us.  My husband and I harmonize the Happy Birthday song in a very...how do I explain it? ...colorful...ya that is a good word...colorful singing.  LOL.  Makes the family laugh and as much as they do not want to admit it....they love that we do it.

I found this card made by Julie and decided to give it a go.  I wasn't sure how she created it so I did the best I could.  Thank you Julie for the inspiration!

The background music stamp was done on white cardstock and glued down.  The piano was handcut on black cardstock.  To punch the keys I used a Stampin Up Word Punch.  The ribbon was 2 pieces left over that I tied in the front and glued down.

Thank you for stopping by and have a super crafty day!  See you soon

SBR-Us Challenge 54-Butterfly

Working hard to get all caught up on the Challenges to a Yahoo Group I belong to.  Yesterday I was able to create two cards that matched their Challenge #54.  Each card has the same color and style but different flower stamps.

Challenge was to have a butterfly on it.

Hope you have a crafty day.  I am off to work.  My crafty time will be tonight!
See you then..

Young At Heart

This card was fun to make for my boss's birthday today!  I took a picture of the card from the top so you could see the depth of the 3D card.

This technique is called Bendi Frame Card.  You can find the directions here at Splitcoaststampers.com.  It was a fun card to make but I must admit...not a quick simple card.  In between getting caught up on my tv show (The Walking Dead), figuring out exactly what was I going to do with this technique...it took me about 2 1/2 hours.

The stamp set is from Art Impressions His and Her Campers Stamp Set.  I tried to pull the set up at Art Impressions but the picture was not working so you can see the set here Amazon.

Here are a couple more photos of the card.

Inside:  Still young at heart...slightly older everywhere else.

Have a great day!!

Secret Invitations

January 1st was my Boss's 40th Anniversary for his business.  That was quite a milestone!  All of us at the office gave him a party.  We actually surprised him which was amazing as he finds out everything and so hard to surprise him.  We had about 40 of his closest friends and colleagues at the party.

I volunteered to make the invites.
My inspiration came from this Door Card.
It was pretty easy to make.  I cut out all the pieces, glued them together, ran each door through the woodgrain folder and then glued them down on top of the card.  The door handles came from something I had in my stash from years ago.

Christmas Thank You

Someone told me several months ago how thank you cards have died down from when she was younger.  She still handwrites and mails thank you cards for lots of reason.

I got to thinking why don't I do that?  I make cards but it is rare that I send out thinking of you or thank you cards.  After listening to her, I decided to go ahead and do that as well.  I know that I enjoy getting them when I do.

I made several of these to thank everyone for my Christmas Gifts.  It was easy, quick, simple and I am sure appreciated once they received!

hugs,

SBR-Us Challenge 61-Valentine Heart

Hello Hello!!
Merry Christmas
Happy New Year
Happy Valentines Day
Did I miss anything while I was away?

Yes I am still here!  Yes I have still been making cards.  Just time got by me so I apologize!

I am taking a much needed break from busting out 130 Christmas Cards which I used all but 4 cards.  Not much of a head way for 2015 Season but I will get there soon enough.  Lately I have been practising on how to color images for my cards.   The classes that I am taking are from Kit and Clowder.  If you ever wanted to take a class to color images (all types of alcohol markers, pencils and watercoloring), ...now is the time!  Not only is the time is right due to the ratio of Aussie to USA but the classes themselves are the best!  Lots of support, feedback, videos and complete books you can print out.  Right now I am taking the skin and hair class.  I colored an image for my husband's Valentine first and then I did the class.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!  The classes really work...lol

My first attempt looks like she hit the tanning booth and got a yellowish tan..UGH..

Here is my card after the first two lessons in the skin and hair class.  Many more to go as you can tell.  At least I have a "before" and will have an "after" as soon as I finish the coloring hair lesson.  That class is next in the lessons.  My husband loved the card and saw beyond the fact that the hair needed serious work.   That is what you call love *S*.

I bought this image from Slinky Tart and is called "From The Heart".  She has some serious cute images!  Will be buying more in the future from Slinky Tart.

Thank you for stopping by!
