Cone or No Cone

My boss has been down for at least a week now with really bad back pain and he is so missed at work.  

I wanted to make him a quick card to let him know I was thinking of him.

He loves dogs so I made him this card. 

Inside it says "On the bright side...You don't need a cone."

I know he will appreciate the thought.

Someone very dear to me lost her mom a couple of days ago, so this morning I made her this card.  

I had the pleasure of knowing her mom over the years.  She was a sweetest woman and very close to her daughter.

There has been struggles over the past few years so it is one of those blessings in disguise.  No matter what...it is always difficult to say goodby.  Nothing about it makes its easy.

MJ, if my arms could reach you, I would give you the biggest hug.  I know you have the best support with Al.

52 CCT July Technique Challenge

Can you believe it is the last challenge for July already?

That means we are already 1/2 way through the year and only 4 months to when it is major crunch time to get the cards done and in the mail!

This week it was about sewing.  

I used Faux Sewing Technique this time...something I have not done in a very long time.  I had to hunt for my old Stampin Up paper piecing template.  It is so old that it has turned yellow! 

 I love it as it has guide lines to help you keep a straight line as you poke along.  After I had all the holes poked, I used a very skinny green marker by Le Penn to follow the holes like stitches.  Sometimes they go off kilter but that is ok to me as it looks a bit like my stitching on a sewing machine LOL.  

I do not always sew very straight.  

The image I colored with my copics was a free image from https://bugaboostamps.com/.  They have some very cute digital images over there.  I have a snowflake punch which is my favorite but I think it is on its last legs.  It was hard to punch the snowflakes out tonight.  I do not know who the company is so I will have to hunt it down if I have to replace it!  Merry Christmas was actually words attached to a wreath in a Recollections Noel Die and Stamp set.  I cut it apart very carefully because the words fit perfectly for my project tonight.

52 CCT July Theme Challenge

Here is my Santa card for this weeks challenge at 52CCT!

I had fun coloring up this image from Polkadoodles called "Toots".  I added some Nuvo Glitter Accents Fresh Snowfall to all the white.  Can't have Christmas without some kind of sparkle.

I am hooping for the best for you!

I am not sure if Cameron likes basketball but I do know he is in the Guinness Book for spinning a basketball the longest on his finger.  Impressive! 

This image was the only one I could find that came close. 

 I found it on Dr. Digi on Esty. 

To help bring attention to the basketball (for him), I used a stencil called Warp Speed.  

 I am getting faster at coloring with pencils as this image only took me 3 hours.  For some of you, you will say "that took forever" but for those who understand and color...you will say "Way to go!"

52 CCT July Color Challenge

This week it is white on white chosen by Fabiola at 52CCT.

I can't remember if I have done all white cards before and I really think they are really so elegant. 

 I grabbed a bunch of my dies that I thought would work.  First card I made did not make it and is scrapped in a pile to the side of my desk.  I may salvage it later on.  

Here is the card that I was happy with...

When I placed the pieces together before glueing down, it seemed to be missing something.  After staring at it for a few moments, it dawned on me!  GLITTER!!

I dug until I found enough white glitter paper in a very old paper pack.  I had enough to cut the background and the deer.  Although it is white sparkling paper, it was just enough to offset the plain white cardstock.

White is so difficult to photograph and capture all the details.  I tried without a flash and with.  The photo below is with a flash.  At least you can see where the glitter paper. =(

52 CCT July Sketch Challenge

Unbelievable! It's July already and it is Christmas in July! I have creating Christmas cards under control for two years now as I have learned making them all year puts a big jump on them.  By the time I need to mail, I am all set, where as in the past I scrambled for days to make quick cards.  I am thinking I need to do that for birthdays!

It is the first Saturday of the month so that means a sketch challenge.  Will you come play with us this time over at 52CCT?  You do realize....only 6 months left to the year.  It also means only 5 months left to make cards!
